For the 26th year Woman Lake once again arises out of it’s Brigadoonish mists. And once again it’s time for Woman Lake Reports. I trust you hadn’t forgotten about us and were anxiously awaiting my daily missives. Or maybe not.

In any case, this is the start.

Pat Kelly and Rick Zieman have already joined Jerry Peters up there, I’m going tomorrow with my son Chris. And various other folks will come and go, as I’ll relate later. The first report will be tomorrow and I plan to stay through Wednesday so you’ll be getting them until then.

Developments: Jerry sold the Woman Lake cabin. However, he sold it to his brother–in–law, with terms that included our annual week for us at Woman. So we’re back there.

Complication: No email access at the cabin. However, Jerry also bought another cabin on Leech Lake, some 15–miles away, but with internet. So there’s going to be some commuting to get the nightly Reports out. There may be delays but I promise to deliver.

Also: I bought a new boat, an 18–foot Crestliner. Snappy, really snappy. Will have pictures.

Speaking of pictures, the attached is a quickie for you. It shows Government Point, one of our very favorite fishing spots. We pass it going back and forth to the cabin and fish it several times a day. Our biggest WL walleye, my 27.5–incher, was caught there.

As usual, we’ll have a lot of other pictures linked to Jerry’s web site.

Also as usual, if you’re tired of all this stuff, let me know and I’ll take your name off the list, no problem.

Optimisim springs eternal in the fisherman’s breast, an occupational disease. I trust we’re going to bring in by the bucket load this year. Of course, I’ve trusted that many times in previous years, and the bucket sometimes seems to have no bottom.

But that’s irrelevant. We’re fishermen, not catchermen. The first report tomorrow.
